Regardless of season or time of year, body hair is always a matter that calls our attention for aesthetic purposes. Among the usual suspects are underarms, legs, and bikini line, but eyebrows and upper lip can also necessitate hair removal measures. Shaving requires regular sessions, hair removal creams can burn, waxing can be expensive, and yet the hair keeps coming back! If you desire a solution for undesired hair that leaves permanent results, laser hair removal may be the right option for you!

Different options

While having body hair is totally ok, those who are serious about its removal have considered dealing with it once and for all. Shaving is a quick and easy fix, but it does start to grow back after 1-2 days, when you begin to feel the sharp stubble of new hairs. Waxing, though more expensive, removes the hair at a deeper level than a razor can cut, making results last for 3-6 weeks. However, the hair must grow to a certain length to qualify for another waxing session, and touch-ups with a razor in between sessions can make the hair thicker than before, undoing the results. Waxing does sustain longer-term results and make the skin smoother, but the costs range from $50-$100 for a full leg, not including tips. With monthly sessions over multiple years, your bank account is bound to feel the effects of this hair removal endeavor. Luckily, there is another more effective option!

Hair removal at APS

At Advanced Plastic Surgery, we offer laser hair removal packages at 3 different price points depending on the part of the body being treated. Each package includes 8 sessions to fully remove the hair bulb at each growth stage. To remove facial/neck hair, we offer a package at $800. A mid-sized area such as the chest or back is $1,500, and a package for both legs clocks in at $2,974. Considering the long-term effects, laser hair removal is a more cost-effective option than waxing because of its permanence! The process of receiving the laser treatments takes many months, but the hair will never return afterwards because the entire shaft has been removed.

How does it work?

The patient comes in, lays on the table, and our aesthetician Lisa will gladly guide the patient through the procedure. The laser itself functions in a special handpiece which delivers the hair-eliminating energy to the skin. It targets darker body hair and is safe on every skin type. While our aesthetician is using laser, you may feel small snaps, similar to the pain felt from a rubber band snap. There may also be an unpleasant smell of burning hair, but it is nothing unbearable. Our job is to keep you as comfortable as possible, encouraging communication throughout the procedure to ensure the best results!

Try it!

Laser hair removal can also be done before any surgery. It has minimal contraindications and can be applied to any skin type. With each session lasting less than 15 minutes, we can prepare your body for the summer and beyond with a few easy visits!
