Your skin requires a complete restructuration

Ah, the topic of skincare once again! There exist hundreds of face masks, peels, and topical treatments in the world of cosmetics that claim to effectively and dramatically improve your skin. The vast realm of these skincare options can make it difficult to obtain and continue to use a regimen that works without repeated trial and error. To avoid this tedious (and expensive!) process, the skin requires a complete restructuration and challenge to clarify and re-equilibrate. One method of achieving this goal is a chemical peel, a safe and helpful skin therapy for encouraging skin turn over and maintaining a fresh, radiant glow.

Safe and helpful skin therapy

chemical peel is a chemical treatment used to exfoliate, brighten, tighten, and correct various blemishes on the surface of the skin. The treatment itself is either an alpha hydroxide or beta hydroxide acid in various concentrations, depending on the desires of the patient. It is effective in addressing acne, dark spots, fine lines, wrinkles, razor burn, and general buildup of dry, dead skin on the face.

There is no permanent harm to the face

Despite its menacing name and chemical makeup, the treatment does not do permanent harm to the face. Our aesthetician makes sure to constantly communicate with her patients while applying the chemical peel. She makes sure to ask her patients to rate their pain/discomfort levels on a scale from 1 to 10, never allowing them to surpass a 7. To further assure the patient’s comfort, a handheld fan is used while the chemical peel is being applied to immediately remove and heat coming off the face from the peel. The fan is controlled by the patient.

The power of Dermaplaning

Prior to any chemical peel treatment, dermaplaning is first completed to kick off any superficial dry skin layers that are easily removable. The treatment itself entails our aesthetician taking her scalpel and raking layers of skin and “peach fuzz” hair from the cheeks, forehead, chin, and upper lip. Dermaplaning allows the chemical peel to penetrate into the lower layers of the skin via the pores and stimulate skin rejuvenation. This process is visible while the peel is being applied in the form of frosting- the appearance of little white spots- on the face. If the acidic treatment becomes too much for the patient to bear, the areas to which the peel has been applied can be neutralized through another chemical treatment for a soothing effect.

Don’t be afraid!

At first, it does sound crazy to put acid of significant concentrations onto your face, but you must remember that you apply some degree of acid to your face every day! Many exfoliant creams that have abrasive powers to induce skin turnover must have a bit of acid to do their job. Some acids break off the “glue” that holds down dead skin while others kill bacteria that cause acne. The fear of a pure chemical peel is the burn from the concentration percentage; however, a chemical peel gives you the assurance that one hard-hitting treatment, the equivalent of many everyday topical creams, will correct, brighten, and reinvigorate your skin to give you the results you deserve. Give your skin the opportunity and the time to rejuvenate.
