Facial Balancing
There are many treatments that can enhance your face’s appearance to meet your aesthetic goals, ranging from invasive surgeries with incisions to non-invasive laser treatments. One minimally invasive treatment offered at Advanced Plastic Surgery in Grand Rapids, commonly used to restore balance and harmonize your facial features, is facial balancing. In this procedure, you will enjoy a one-of-a-kind, personalized experience using injectables, such as fillers and neurotoxins, to achieve a balanced, proportionate appearance for your face. If you are looking for a subtle yet dramatic boost in confidence, this may be the ideal treatment.
What is Facial Balancing?
Facial balancing is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that creates more symmetrical, proportionate facial features for a harmonious appearance. This procedure is highly customizable and often uses multiple injectables, such as dermal fillers and BOTOX, to achieve an improved appearance. Facial balancing generally involves a strategic plan to enhance contours, add volume, and soften lines across the chin, jawline, cheeks, and lips to create facial harmony. The results from the treatment can last anywhere from a few months to two years, depending on which injectables you receive and the imbalance of your features.
Common Facial Balancing Treatments
Surgical Procedures
- Brow Lift: Treats age-related symptoms in the forehead and eyebrows, such as drooping eyebrows, hooded eyelids, forehead furrows, and frown lines by removing or altering underlying muscles.
- Chin Augmentation: Improves the appearance of your chin via an augmentation, in which a silicone implant is inserted directly on the chin bone, or a reduction, in which excess bone is removed, and the chin is shaped for a natural-looking contour.
- Ear Surgery: Improves the shape, position, and/or size of the ears to achieve more facial harmony between the face and ears, whether your ears are protruding, overly large, or you’re simply dissatisfied with how they look.
- Eyelid Surgery: Improves the appearance of your eyes by removing loose, excess skin, fine lines, and wrinkles on your eyelids. It can also address bags under the eyes, fatty deposits that make your eyelids look puffy, and restricted vision due to sagging skin interfering with the natural contour of the upper eyelid.
- Facelift & Deep Plane Facelift: Both procedures address multiple signs of facial aging through comprehensive treatment, lifting and tightening the skin for a more youthful appearance, removing wrinkles, correcting sagging, and restoring volume in the cheeks and jawline. The Facelift is generally indicated for moderate to severe facial aging, while a Deep Plane Facelift is indicated for more severe cases. Each procedure lasts several years, making you look significantly younger for longer.
- Fat Transfer: Redistributes fat from areas of your body with excess to areas that have lost volume, including your face. This results in a more defined and balanced shape.
- Neck Lift: Tightens the neck, including the jowls and loose skin, by removing excess to reveal firmer, tighter skin and a more youthful appearance.
- Rhinoplasty: Reshapes or resizes the nose for a more balanced, proportionate facial appearance by altering bone and cartilage. This procedure can narrow nostrils, reshape the tip, reduce humps, and straighten a crooked nose.
Non-Surgical Treatments
- BOTOX: Reduces wrinkles by relaxing underlying muscles that contribute to forming the wrinkles from repeated expressions, natural aging, or sun damage. BOTOX is injected with a fine needle and has very little recovery time, with many patients able to return to regular activities on the same day.
- Chemical Peels: A chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove damaged outer layers and reduce wrinkles, acne scars, uneven pigmentation, and sun damage. There are various types of chemical peels, categorized as superficial, medium, or deep, that can be selected based on your preferences, symptom severity, and goals.
- Dermal Fillers: We offer several types of dermal fillers, each tailored to patient goals in slightly different ways. Overall, this procedure treats signs of facial aging, including nasolabial folds, thin lips, and hollow cheeks.
- Facials: Personalized, therapeutic treatments designed to meet your specific needs and goals in your face, including dim features, sensitivity, skin congestion, and skin laxity. The treatment often includes soothing serums and facial massage, sometimes including the décolletage.
- Lip Fillers: Increase the volume of your lips for a plumper, fuller appearance and beautiful smile. This procedure is among the most popular dermal filler options because it is quick, delivers excellent, natural-looking results, and is almost painless.

What’s The First Step?
AT ADVANCED PLASTIC SURGERY
The first step to receive facial balancing at Advanced Plastic Surgery in Grand Rapids is to schedule a consultation with our Nurse Injector. During your consultation, you will have the opportunity to share your aesthetic goals, questions, concerns, and medical history. Your facial features, including skin quality and any imbalances, will be examined to understand better how we can help you. If you are approved for facial balancing treatment, you will work together to create a customized treatment plan, including which injectables will be used and how many appointments you will need.
What to Expect on the Day of Facial Balancing Treatment
On the day of your facial balancing treatment in Grand Rapids, you can expect a relatively easy session with minimal recovery. Arrive with a clean face free of makeup and skincare products. After we welcome you to our office, we will check you in and take you to the room where you will receive your treatment. The Nurse Injector will apply a topical anesthetic to minimize your discomfort. Then, they will use a fine needle or cannula to inject the fillers or Botox substances discussed in the consultation into the areas of concern. You may feel a slight prick from the needle, but it is quick and practically painless. The Nurse Injector may gently massage the treated areas to blend the products. You may see immediate changes, but the full effects won’t become visible for days to weeks.
Facial Balancing Recovery
Recovering from your facial balancing treatment in Grand Rapids is crucial to achieving optimal results and your goals. You will likely be able to return to most regular activities the same day you receive the injections, though you may experience mild swelling, redness, and bruising for the first few days, which will fade within a couple of weeks. Although your provider will rub the treated areas immediately after injections, you should avoid touching, rubbing, or massaging them during recovery, as this can disrupt the healing process. Drink plenty of water, sleep on your back with your head elevated, and apply cold compresses.
AVERAGE COST
How Much Does Facial Balancing Cost in Grand Rapids, MI?
The cost of Facial Balancing in Grand Rapids may look different than other patients’ total costs. This is because each procedure is highly customizable to meet each patient’s unique goals, rather than a single approach for all patients. The type of injectable you receive, the number of syringes used, the provider’s experience, and the number of areas treated will affect the cost of your facial balancing procedure.
