Procedure: Breast Reconstruction Tissue Expander/Implant
This 33 year-old female was diagnosed with right breast cancer. Initially, she underwent right mastectomy with immediate right tissue expander placement. After chemotherapy treatment, she required radiation treatment of the tissue expander site. Subsequently, the patient desired to undergo left prophylactic mastectomy with immediate reconstruction using tissue expander. Because her tissues were very thin on the right, 190 ml of fat graft was also applied on over the right tissue expander to enhance the soft tissue envelope. After replacement of bilateral tissue expanders for permanent silicone implants, more fat grafting was performed as indicated by brown and yellow pre-operative marks. The last stage of reconstruction consisted of more fat grafting and nipple creation, which was followed by tattoo.
