PRP & PRF Regenerative Aesthetics
Thoughtful planning today for a more radiant tomorrow.
At APS Medical Spa by Advanced Plastic Surgery, we take a thoughtful approach to facial rejuvenation. We don’t believe every line needs to be treated or that adding more volume is always the answer.
Faces change in many ways as we age. Collagen decreases, skin becomes thinner, volume shifts, and years of facial movement become more noticeable. Understanding what is actually causing a concern is an important part of deciding how to treat it.
That is why regenerative aesthetics has become an important part of our approach to healthy aging and natural-looking facial rejuvenation.
We offer PRP facial injections, microneedling with PRP, and PRF EZ Gel for patients interested in using treatments derived from their own blood to address skin quality, collagen loss, and subtle changes in facial volume.
Our goal is simple: help you look refreshed while still looking like yourself.
What Are PRP and PRF?
PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, and PRF, or Platelet-Rich Fibrin, are both prepared from a small sample of your own blood.
The blood is processed to separate and concentrate components that include platelets and naturally occurring growth factors. Depending on the treatment, the resulting PRP or PRF can then be injected into specific areas or used in combination with microneedling.
Although PRP and PRF come from the same source, they are prepared differently and don’t necessarily serve the same purpose.
That is why we don’t approach them as interchangeable treatments.
PRP Facial Injections
PRP can be injected into carefully selected areas of the face when the goal is to address skin and tissue quality rather than simply add volume.
We may consider PRP for concerns such as fine or crepey skin, early signs of aging, under-eye skin quality, fine lines, or other areas where improving the quality of the tissue is the primary goal.
PRP can also be incorporated into a larger facial rejuvenation plan.
At APS Medical Spa, we don’t automatically recommend filler simply because an area has changed. Sometimes the issue is volume. Sometimes it is skin quality. Often, it is a combination.
Determining that difference matters.
Microneedling with PRP
Microneedling works by creating controlled microchannels in the skin, stimulating the body’s natural healing response and collagen remodeling.
Adding PRP to microneedling allows us to combine this collagen-stimulating treatment with concentrated components prepared from your own blood.
Microneedling with PRP may be appropriate for patients who want to improve the appearance of fine lines, uneven texture, enlarged pores, acne scarring, dull skin, or early changes associated with aging.
It is also a good option to consider for patients who want to work on the quality of their skin without changing the shape or volume of their face.
We often talk with our patients about healthy aging rather than anti-aging. Maintaining skin quality and collagen over time can be just as important as addressing changes once they become more noticeable.
PRF EZ Gel
PRF EZ Gel gives us another option for patients who want a subtle approach to facial volume and rejuvenation.
PRF is prepared from your own blood and processed into a gel-like consistency that can be injected into selected areas of the face.
Unlike traditional hyaluronic acid fillers, PRF EZ Gel is made from your own blood. The gel provides temporary volume while also containing a fibrin matrix, platelets, and other naturally occurring blood components.
PRF EZ Gel may be considered for areas such as the under-eye area, tear troughs, cheeks, fine lines, nasolabial areas, and selected areas of early volume loss.
It can be especially appealing to someone who comes to us saying:
“I want to look less tired, but I don’t want to look filled.”
That doesn’t mean PRF EZ Gel replaces traditional filler. There are situations where a hyaluronic acid filler may be the better choice. Our job is to explain the difference and recommend what makes the most sense for the result you want.
PRP vs. PRF EZ Gel: What’s the Difference?
PRP is a liquid preparation that can be injected or used with treatments such as microneedling. We often consider it when skin and tissue quality are a primary concern.
PRF EZ Gel has a thicker, gel-like consistency and can provide temporary volume in areas where subtle correction is desired.
Neither treatment is automatically “better.”
The more important question is what are we trying to accomplish?
If your concern is primarily skin quality, our recommendation may be different than it would be for someone experiencing facial volume loss. If both are occurring, we may recommend a combination of treatments.
Regenerative Aesthetics and Neuro Aesthetics
Facial aging isn’t caused by one thing, so treating it shouldn’t always rely on one type of treatment.
While PRP and PRF can be used to address skin, tissue quality, and subtle volume changes, facial muscle movement also plays an important role in how the face changes over time.
This is where neuro aesthetics can complement regenerative treatments.
Neuromodulators such as Botox®, Dysport®, and DAXXIFY® can be used strategically to soften lines caused by repeated muscle movement. Our goal isn’t to freeze expression. We want patients to continue to smile, laugh, and look like themselves.
For some patients, combining a regenerative treatment with conservative neuromodulator treatment provides a more balanced result than trying to accomplish everything with filler or any single treatment.
What are the Benefits of PRP & PRP EZ Gel?
PRP and PRF EZ Gel appeal to patients who want gradual, natural-looking change using their own body’s components. Benefits can include:
- Made from your own blood. Both treatments are prepared from a small sample of your blood, with no synthetic filler material.
- Natural-looking results. Improvement tends to build gradually, so you look refreshed rather than “done.”
- Supports collagen and skin quality. PRP and PRF are used to improve texture, fine lines, crepey skin, and overall skin health, not just to fill.
- Subtle, temporary volume. PRF EZ Gel can soften under-eye hollows, tear troughs, and early volume loss without an overfilled look.
- Versatile. PRP can be injected or added to microneedling; PRF EZ Gel can be placed in selected areas of the face.
- Minimal downtime. Most patients return to normal activities within a day or two, with temporary swelling or bruising.
- Works well with other treatments. Both can be combined with Botox, Dysport, DAXXIFY, filler, or skin treatments as part of a full-face plan.
What are the best candidates for PRP & PRP EZ Gel?
You may be a good candidate for PRP or PRF EZ Gel if you:
- Notice early signs of aging, such as fine lines, thinning or crepey skin, or dullness
- Are bothered by under-eye hollows, tear troughs, or a tired look
- Want to improve skin texture, enlarged pores, or acne scarring
- Prefer a treatment made from your own blood, or want a more natural alternative to hyaluronic acid filler
- Want subtle, gradual improvement rather than a dramatic change
- Are in good overall health and have realistic expectations
PRP and PRF may not be right for everyone. Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain blood or platelet disorders, take blood thinners, have an active skin infection in the treatment area, or are undergoing treatment for cancer may need to wait or consider other options. We review your health history during your consultation.
Patients with significant volume loss or skin laxity may see better results with filler, surgical options, or a combination plan, and we’ll tell you if that’s the case.

What to Expect During PRP & PRF EZ Gel Treatment
- Consultation. We discuss your goals, examine your skin and facial anatomy, and recommend PRP, PRF EZ Gel, microneedling with PRP, or a combination.
- Blood draw. A small sample of blood is drawn from your arm, similar to routine lab work.
- Preparation. The sample is processed in a centrifuge to concentrate platelets and growth factors. For PRF EZ Gel, part of it is heated and cooled to create the gel and then mixed with PRF.
- Comfort. Topical numbing is applied to the treatment area.
- Treatment. PRP or PRF EZ Gel is injected into selected areas, or PRP is applied during microneedling. Most appointments take about 60 to 90 minutes, including preparation.
Recovery and Downtime
Most patients return to normal activities within a day. Mild swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising at the injection sites is common and usually settles within a few days.
With PRF EZ Gel under the eyes, some swelling is expected at first. The area typically looks fuller for a few days before it settles, so we recommend planning around important events.
After microneedling with PRP, skin may look and feel similar to a mild sunburn for one to three days. We’ll give you aftercare instructions, including when to resume skincare, makeup, and exercise.
How Long Do PRP and PRF EZ Gel Results Last?
PRP and PRF work with your body’s natural healing response, so results develop gradually. Skin-quality improvements often become noticeable over several weeks as collagen remodels.
PRF EZ Gel provides some volume right away; that initial fullness settles and is followed by gradual improvement. Results typically last several months and vary with age, lifestyle, and the area treated.
Many patients start with a series of two to three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart, followed by periodic maintenance. We’ll recommend a schedule based on your goals.
AVERAGE COST
How Much Do PRP and PRF EZ Gel Cost in Grand Rapids?
The cost of PRP or PRF EZ Gel depends on the treatment, the areas treated, and how many sessions are recommended. PRF EZ Gel under the eyes, PRP facial injections, and microneedling with PRP are each priced differently, and some patients benefit from a series or a combination plan.
We provide a personalized quote during your consultation so you know the full cost of your treatment plan before you begin.
PRP & PRF EZ Gel Before and After
See real results from patients treated at APS Medical Spa in our before and after gallery. Because PRP and PRF work gradually, before and after photos are typically taken several weeks after the final session in a series.
PRF EZ Gel for Under-Eyes
The under-eye area is one of the most common reasons patients ask about PRF. Hollows, dark shadows, and thin, crepey skin can make you look tired even when you feel rested.
PRF EZ Gel under the eyes can soften the look of hollows and tear troughs while also supporting the quality of the delicate skin in this area. Because it is made from your own blood, many patients see it as a gentler first step than hyaluronic acid filler under the eyes.
The under-eye region is complex. Puffiness, fat pads, pigment, and skin laxity can all look like “dark circles,” and not all of them respond to an injectable. We evaluate the area carefully and will tell you if PRF, PRP, filler, a skin treatment, or no treatment is the better fit.
The APS DifferencE
There are many places where you can receive an injectable treatment.
What matters to us is why we’re doing it.
APS Medical Spa is part of Advanced Plastic Surgery, and we approach facial rejuvenation by looking at the entire face rather than treating individual lines in isolation.
We consider six things:
Skin. Collagen. Volume. Structure. Movement.
When a patient tells us something is bothering them, we want to understand what is actually creating that change.
- Is the skin becoming thinner?
- Has facial volume shifted?
- Is muscle movement contributing to the concern?
- Would improving skin quality make a bigger difference than adding volume?
- Would PRF make sense, or would a traditional filler provide a better result?
- Would Botox, Dysport, or Daxxify help—or does that area not need to be treated at all?
Those questions are part of the consultation.
Sometimes the right answer is PRP. Sometimes it is PRF EZ Gel, microneedling, Botox or Dysport, filler, a laser or skin treatment, or a combination.
And sometimes the right answer is simply not to treat something yet.
That is part of natural aesthetics, too.
Healthy Aging, Not Chasing Youth
We don’t believe good aesthetic care is about trying to look 20 years younger.
Our approach to healthy aging is about understanding the changes that are occurring and making thoughtful decisions about which ones you want to address.
For one patient, that may mean starting with skin quality and collagen. For another, it may mean addressing facial movement. Someone else may benefit from subtle volume restoration.
The treatment plan should evolve as you do.
Our goal is to help you maintain the features that make you recognizable while helping you look rested, healthy, balanced, and natural.
