Procedure: DIEP flap
This delightful 64-year old lady presented with absence of the right breast due to prior mastectomy for breast cancer. She desired reconstruction using her own tissues and was offered DIEP flap transfer. He surgery went very well. In fact, she never took any of the prescribed pain medications after the surgery! Six months after her initial procedure, a symmetry procedure was conducted consisting of right nipple areola creation and left breast lift with 228 ml of fat graft transferred to augment her left breast. She is depicted in the pictures 6 months after the procedure. She had to wear a sleeve for compression of the right lymphedematous arm. Since the post-operative picture was taken, the patient underwent an outpatient lymphaticovenous bypass procedure which was successful. She is not wearing a sleeve anymore.
