Procedure: Breast Revision
This a 55 year-old attractive lady underwent left lumpectomy with radiation therapy for breast cancer. Over one year following completion of her breast cancer treatment, she noted left breast disfigurement and decrease in size. This deformity was initially addressed with a silicone implant placement by a different surgeon. Augmentation of the right breast was also performed for symmetry. Unfortunately, the left breast became infected necessitating removal of the implant. The patient was displeased with the appearance of her breast and desired a corrective surgery. Upon clinical examination, she was found to have paper-thin skin of the left breast. Since the patient was not a candidate for a flap procedure, fat grafting was offered to enhance soft tissue envelope of the future implant. After two sessions of fat grafting, the skin overlaying the implant was noted to be adequate and successful reconstruction of the left breast was performed using 345 ml silicone implants. Additionally, right breast lift was performed at the same time.
