Procedure: Nose Reshaping
This 66-year old gentleman sustained open fracture of his nose after a firework accident. Initially, his injuries were addressed with repair of the wound on the nasal ala and splinting applied by the Emergency Department. After the swelling subsided, he noted that his nose was misshapen. Additionally, he was unable to breath through the nose. He underwent an open septorhinoplasty with spreader grafts. The bones of his nose needed to be refractured and reset to restore the shape of his nose. At 6 months after surgery, the patient was very pleased with the aesthetic result and his breathing is greatly improved.
